Heritage Park
Heritage Park is a very nice park in Taylor. It's a traditional city park that offers ball diamonds, soccer fields, pavilions, grills, picnic tables and area, restrooms, shops, a playground, and park benches. However, there are five main things I like about: 1) it has very nice paved paths for biking, jogging, and walking, 2) a nature area made up of both woods and an open, maze type meadow/fields with a pond in the back, 3) a walking tour of historical buildings around a pond, 4) a petting farm, and 5) a catch and release pond.
The Heritage Park Petting Farm offers a hands-on experience for the young or just young at heart in a unique park atmosphere. A knowledgeable staff is on hand to assist and make your visit a memorable one. Special events have included: camel rides, exotic animal shows, face painting, reindeer day at Christmas, to name a few. There is a Welcome Center with an activity room for birthday paries and special events, a nature pond, and full size barn with goats, sheep, ponies, alpacas, cows, donkeys, chickens, rabbits, and piglets. The park and farm also include a working wind turbine and solar panels that provide 40% of the power used in the visitor center.
The parks also hosts many musical events throughout the year including the Summer Festival whose past performers have included Terri CLark, John Anderson, REO Speedwagon, Kansas, the Cheetah Girls, and the Charlie Daniels Band. There are also Fall and Winter musical events in addition to an Art festival.
